Beyond Dunamis

"…pressed out of measure, above strength…" 2 Corinthians 1:8

About

Welcome to Beyond Dunamis.

Beyond Dunamis is a humble attempt at a blog that first and foremost is dedicated to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My heartfelt desire for anyone in need of or searching for spiritual encouragement will find it here through a thoughtful reflection of the inspired Word of God contained within the Bible’s Holy Scriptures.

Dunamis is the Greek word for “strength” or “power”. Two of my favorite verses in the Bible that make use of the word dunamis are found in Luke 8:46 (King James Version – for all intents and purposes, I’ll almost always refer to a verse or passage as it was translated from the original Hebrew or Greek into KJV, that’s just my preferred translation) where Jesus said, “…I perceive that virtue is gone out of me” and 2 Cor 1:8, the verse upon which this entire effort to offer a word of encouragement to anyone in need stems from, “…we were pressed out of measure, above strength…”. In both cases the word for “power” and “strength” are the same – dunamis.

The hope here is that if you’ve found yourself reading this you’re looking for that word of encouragement. Maybe your heart is burdened by the cares of this world (be it family or relationships or work or simply circumstance) or maybe like Paul and Timothy you’ve been pressed out of measure, above strength, or perhaps you’re so crushed in spirit you just ache, deep down inside.

Regardless of where you are today in your walk with Jesus, may “…the God of all grace…” (1 Pet 5:10) minister to you through His Holy Spirit and meet you where you are as we dive into His Word together and attempt to draw closer to Him. My continual prayer is that my words be quickly forgotten, and His always remembered.
